According to a media report, Volkswagen is evaluating a performance version of the T-Roc for India. The vehicle under consideration is called the T-Roc R in world markets. It could be introduced in India as the T-Roc GT line.
It is unclear which engine the T-Roc GT will be offered with. The report claims it could use the Polo Carrera’s 1.8-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, which produces 206 bhp. In Europe, the T-Roc R is offered with a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 294 BHP.
The T-Roc R has a sportier front bumper with vertically oriented LED daytime running lights and an R badge on the grille and tailgate. The SUV has a black roof with roof rails and quad exhaust tips. Inside, the T-Roc R has black upholstery with R insignia.
In India, the regular T-Roc is offered with a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 148 BHP at 5,000-6,000 rpm and 250 Nm at 1,500-3,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
