Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced on Thursday that the state government will provide insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh each to all journalists in Haryana reporting during the coronavirus pandemic, the ANI news agency reported.

Khattar’s announcement comes at a time when many media professionals have tested positive for coronavirus while doing their jobs during the Covid-19 crash.

Almost 50 journalists in Mumbai and no less than 20 journalists in Chennai recently tested positive for Covid-19.

Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the administration will begin evaluating the coronavirus on media staff. Testing started on Wednesday at a dedicated Covid-19 center in Delhi.

“Dear friends of the media, the testing of media people has started in a greedy testing center. I wish you all very good health, ”Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted.

The Karnataka government had also issued a similar order on the Covid-19 test of media people working in the field during the coronavirus crisis.

In its announcement, the central government on Wednesday urged all media professionals to take care of their health and observe the necessary precautions.

“The Ministry has been noted that a large number of people in the media have recently contracted with Covid-19 while covering events in certain parts of the country,” the statement read.

Print and electronic media are part of essential services and professionals working in the field are exempt from the blockade. India entered the ninth day of the national coronavirus blockade that will end on May 3.
