Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman admitted he was impressed with Oscar Mingueza after the youngster made his debut in a 4-0 win over Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League.
Mingueza had his first start for the Barça clash with no defensive options after Gerard Piqué joined Ronald Araujo and Samuel Umtiti on the bench.
The 21-year-old also did a good job and earned the praise of his coach after the comfortable victory in Ukraine.
“I think Mingueza has shown that we can count on him. He has to work hard to get minutes, but he’s been training with us for five or six weeks and he’s made a good impression on us. He has delivered. I liked the team. A good game and we worked hard, we pushed … today’s image is what we want to see ”.

It was certainly an encouraging performance from the young man who could now enter contention to play against Osasuna on Sunday in La Liga at the Camp Nou. Araujo could be fit by then and Frenkie de Jong could be an option too, but Koeman could choose to stay with Mingueza after a strong debut.
