New Delhi [India]December 11 (ANI): Starter Rohit Sharma has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) physios following his hamstring injury during the Indian Premier League.
The batsman had arrived at the NCA in Bengaluru on November 19 and was scheduled to undergo a physical fitness test on Friday.
Speaking to ANI, sources familiar with the events said the batsman is fit for the rigors of international cricket. “He has passed the aptitude test and the future course of action will be decided by the BCCI and the selection committee,” the source said.
The BCCI had reported the decision to add Rohit to the squad for the test series against Australia after initially excluding him from the tour due to the hamstring injury.
“The BCCI medical team has been monitoring Rohit Sharma’s physical condition and has informed the All India Senior Selection Committee about it. In consultation with Sharma, it has been decided to leave him for the ODI and T20I in Australia to regain his full fitness and has been included in the Indian test team for the Frontera-Gavaskar Trophy, “BCCI said in a statement on November 9.
While the Indian players who were part of the IPL final on November 10 entered the national team bubble that same night in Dubai, Rohit had flown back to India and then headed to the NCA to complete his rehabilitation. .
Speaking to the media on November 26, India captain Virat Kohli said that confusion over Rohit’s injury status is something that should have been avoided and there should have been clarity on the whole matter.
