Robert Lewandowski names Atletico Madrid star one of the best forwards in the world

Robert Lewandowski has named Atletico Madrid star Luis Suárez as one of his top five forwards in the world today. Suárez joined Atlético from Barcelona on a free transfer.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is arguably the best player in the world today, let alone the best forward.

Lewandowski was the main man in Bayern’s 2019/20 triplet campaign, scoring 55 goals and creating 10 assists for Hansi Flick’s team.

Before the Bundesliga restart, Lewandowski was asked to pick the best forwards in the world right now.

The Polish international did not hesitate to name Luis Suárez among his five chosen ones.

“It is not a simple question. If we speak of forwards as 9 pure, as classic central forwards, I would choose Karim Benzema, Timo Werner, Luis Suárez, Sergio Agüero and Kylian Mbappé.”

Suarez left Barcelona for Atlético de Madrid in the current transfer window on a free transfer after Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman said he would not figure in his plans for next season.

The Uruguayan forward already has two goals to his name with Atlético after coming off the bench to pocket a double against Granada on Sunday.

Suárez is the only player since the 2009-10 season, aside from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, to have won the European Golden Boot.

He shared the award with Ronaldo in the 2013-14 season, as they both scored 31 goals and got the second after scoring 40 league goals in the 2015-16 season.
