Anant Singh, a criminal turned politician and member of Mokama’s MLA, is back in the running from the Mokama assembly seat on the RJD ticket. Rajiv Lochan Narayan of Janata Dal (United) challenges him in the constituency. In 2015, Anant Singh won the constituency assembly elections as an independent candidate. Before that, he was a member of JD (U). He is currently being housed in Bihar’s Beur Prison under an Illegal Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) case after weapons, including AK-47s, were found in his home last year. Before the 2015 elections, a police team raided his official residence on Mall Road in Patna, the capital of Bihar, and found six empty INSAS rifle magazines and some blood-stained clothing. He was not arrested then, but later landed in jail in a separate kidnapping and murder case. Known as ‘Chote Sarkar’ in his area, Singh is a three-time MLA who won for the first time since the Mokama seat in 2005.

Anant Singh’s educational qualifications are: Literate and 59 years old.
Its total declared assets are 68.6 million rupees, which includes 18.5 million rupees in mobile assets and 50.1 million rupees as real estate assets. His total declared income is Rs 1.3 crore of which Rs 8.9 lakh is his own income. Anant Singh has a total liability of Rs 17.2 crore.
