Riyaz Naikoo is killing a scare, says Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin

Days after Hizbul Mujahideen chief Riyaz Naikoo was killed in an encounter in Kashmir, a video of the team’s ‘supreme commander’ Syed Salahuddin appeared on the Internet, where he appears concerned about the security forces removing the infantry soldiers of terror.

Salahuddin also heads the United Jihad Council, a Pakistan-based conglomerate of several Pakistan ISI-sponsored terrorist groups.

In the 52-second video, Salahuddin is seen addressing a poorly attended condolence meeting somewhere in Pakistan.

Speaking Urdu with a Kashmir accent, he could be heard saying: “It is a shock to all of us (murder of Riyaz Naikoo), but these” shahadats “(sacrifices) have been going on in Kashmir for a long time. Since January of this year, 80 mujahideen (terrorists) have given their “Shahadat” (eliminated by the security forces) and all of them were highly educated and trained “.

He continued: “Mujahideens (terrorists) also recently broke the back of the enemy (security forces) in Handwara Rajwar, but the enemy (India) has the advantage.”

Hindustan Times cannot answer for the veracity of the video.

A day after the security forces eliminated Naikoo in a joint operation, Salahuddin had said that the sacrifice would help them fulfill the mission they had set out to accomplish.

Naikoo and his associate Adil Ahmed were killed in the Wednesday operation by the police and Jammu and Kashmiri soldiers of the 21 Rashtriya rifles.

A senior army officer said that despite having lost eight men in two recent encounters in Handwara, security forces have maintained constant pressure on militants throughout Kashmir.

“We are already in the chase mode,” he added.

Security forces suspect that there are about 250 militants, including 100 Pakistanis, who are active in Kashmir.
