Riyan parag [42* off 26 balls] and Rahul Tewatia [45* off 28 balls] carried out a forever heist against SunRisers Hyderbad to raise his side from the dead during his 159th manhunt on Sunday.
Chasing 159, the Royals looked dead and buried for all the money after the cream of their hitting returned to the hut with just 78 runs on the board.
The duo initially took their time getting into what was a difficult track to follow. While Parag had just 11 runs of his first 13 balls, Tewatia scored 9 of the first 14 balls.
With just 94 runs on the board after 15 overs, the Royals needed the duo to launch a round in the last 5 to get close to the target.
In the end, Parag went for a big hit at 16, which was poured out by Priyam Garg. It turned out to be a significant moment in the game when Riyan Parag crushed Khaleel by a six in the final installment of the 16 to break the chains.
Tewatia joined the party by crushing Sandeep Sharma by a six on the first ball of the next over before Parag smoked two consecutive limits in the last two deliveries.
Even Rashid Khan was not spared when Tewatia broke the leggie for three consecutive limits: two reverse sweeps and one extra coverage. The problem on the green was certainly with the Royals and it was quite apparent on 18 when the bails didn’t come out of the slots, denying SRH a much-needed wicket.
Tewatia cashed in big to hit T Natarajan for a six-four at 19 more before Riyan Parag finally closed the deal with a six-over deep point.
And, to celebrate the heist, Parag did the ‘Bihu dance’ to further anoint SRH’s wounds.
