After recording four straight losses in the current IPL season, the Rajasthan Royals produced an impressive chase on Sunday against Sunrisers Hyderabad, beating them by 5 wickets and a delivery to spare at the Dubai International Stadium.
Steve Smith’s Royals were pretty much ruled out as the team struggled 78 of 5 at one point, chasing 159 spots on the scoreboard by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. This was to change when newly discovered hero Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag teamed up to put together a winning partnership of 85 for the sixth wicket to take their team home.
As Tewatia snapped an undefeated 45-of-28-ball, Parag hit crucial, fast-paced 42-of-26-ball innings that propelled RR to their third victory in the tournament, much to the delight of RR fans.
What was even more delicious was Parag’s celebratory jig, an 18-year-old Assamese, in the form of Bihu dance on the field after hitting Khaleel Ahmed with a six over covers on the penultimate ball, making the night memorable for your team.
Ecstatic at his effort to win the Royals, Parag shared snapshots from the match, including his Bihu dance photo, after the impressive victory.
After the game, Parag revealed what was happening in the middle. “When Rahul bhaiyya came into action, the main motto was to take it deep. There were only the last four overs left, even Rashid had one. We planned for Rahul bhaiyya to face Rashid and in the end it worked.”
The young man continued talking about his Bihu dance at the end of the match. “I love these situations. Whenever the team needs me, I raise my hand and raise the occasion. That’s the Bihu dance, the traditional dance of Assam. Some of the guys from Assam were there too, they had a little fun.” after the game, “he concluded.
