In a breakthrough in the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput, a special NDPS court in Mumbai on Tuesday extended the judicial pre-trial detention of Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty and others until October 20. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), investigating the angle of drugs in the death of the late actor has arrested at least 20 people so far and has summoned several Bollywood celebrities.
‘All those arrested are connected to each other’
Last month, the Office of Narcotics Control, while opposing bail statements submitted by actress Rhea Chakraborty and five others in the Bollywood drug case, told the Bombay High Court that all people arrested up to now they are connected to each other and that is a union. “All the people arrested so far are connected to each other and it is a union. There was a regular bond and purchases. Therefore, the court will have to consider the case in its entirety, not one defendant of another,” said the NCB. in the court.
The NCB was represented in Superior Court by ASG Anil Singh, who argued in detail before the HC concluded the arguments of all the defendants’ attorneys and reserved the matter for warrants. Before the ASG signaled the complicity of all defendants in this case and objected to bail for each defendant, all five defendants were represented by their lawyers before the Bombay High Court.
Rhea and Showik Chakraborty were represented by attorney Satish Maneshinde, Samuel Miranda was represented by attorney Subodh Desai, attorney Tarak Sayyad appeared for Abdel Basit Parihar and for Dipesh Sawant attorney Rajesh Rathod presented his arguments. Previously, on September 11, the court had rejected the bail statement of Rhea, her brother Showik Chakraborty and others, noting that if she is released on bail, it could alert other defendants and they could destroy the evidence in the case.

The NCB had launched an investigation into the drug case after receiving an official communication from the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), which was investigating the money trail related to the death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In the investigation, many revelations emerged, including several talks related to the consumption, acquisition, use and transport of drugs.
Rajput was found hanged in his Bandra apartment on June 14. Mumbai Police had previously registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and launched an investigation. However, the CBI took over the investigation of the high-profile case in August following the assent of the Supreme Court. Rajput’s father, KK Singh, filed a complaint with the Bihar police on 25 July against Rhea Chakraborty and her relatives accusing them of being complicit in her suicide.
