The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Showik Chakraborty, brother of Bollywood actor Rhea Chakraborty, and Samuel Miranda, home manager of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, in connection with the drug trafficking investigation linked to the Rajput death case.
The arrests were made after the agency raided the residence of actor Rhea under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) as part of its investigation in the case. Similar searches were carried out at Samuel Miranda’s residence.
The NCB team accompanied by police officers raided Rhea’s residence in the Santa Cruz area (west) and Miranda’s home in the suburban Andheri (west) area of the western metropolis. Showik lives with Rhea.
In addition to Showik and Samuel, the NCB has arrested two other people in its investigation: Abdel Basit Parihar and Zaid Vilatra. Parihar, the NCB has said, used to purchase drugs on Showik Chakraborty’s instructions. She has been on remand in the custody of NCB until September 9.
“Parihar, in his statement, revealed that he used to purchase drugs from Vilatra and another person, Kaizan Ibrahim, as instructed by Showik Chakraborty,” the PTI told the NCB.
Vilatra, on the other hand, was presented in a local court by the agency on Thursday which sent him into custody until September 9. Indian currency worth Rs 9.55,750 and foreign currency (USD 2,081, 180 British pounds, 15 dirhams). which, according to the OCN, are “products of drug trafficking”, were recovered from Vilatra.
“Vilatra revealed that he has a restaurant in Bandra that was not giving any financial gain since closing. He also revealed that he is involved in drug trafficking, especially in the buds, through which he used to earn a substantial amount of money, ”the NCB had said.
Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput (34) was found dead at his Bandra home in Mumbai on June 14. Actor Rhea Chakraborty and her family have been questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Rajput’s death, while the NCB is investigating for drug links.
