After reserving its verdict on Thursday, a Mumbai court of sessions on Friday rejected Rhea and Showik Chakraborty’s request for bail. In issuing their first response to the development, Rhea’s attorney, attorney Satish Maneshinde, announced that they were waiting to obtain a copy of the court order, after which they would mark their course of action. He also hinted at the possibility of going to the Bombay High Court, challenging the order of the Court of Sessions.
“Once we obtain a copy of the NDPS Special Court Order, we will decide next week on the course of action to approach the High Court,” said Satish Maneshinde.
Rhea and others reject the bail statement
In addition to Rhea, those whose bail bond has been rejected by Special Court Judge GB Gurao are Sushant’s former house manager Samuel Miranda, his staff Dipesh Sawant, alleged drug traffickers Zaid and Basit. Rhea, Showik and others are currently in Byculla Jail.
Meanwhile, Dipesh Sawant’s lawyer has told the media that they will have the Bombay High Court contest the bail order from the Sessions Court. He has also said that the Court of Sessions has not provided any reason to reject the bail statement, however, the full order is awaited.
Rhea was placed in judicial custody for 14 days after her arrest on Tuesday, her brother Showik was in pretrial detention with the Office of Narcotics Control since September 4. They are also being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Directorate of Enforcement in connection with the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Rhea’s Bail Petition in Sessions Court
According to the NCB, Rhea, who is charged under sections 8 (c), 20 (b) (ii), 22, 27A, 28 and 29 of the 1985 NDPS Act, was confronted with Showik co-defendant Samuel Miranda and Dipesh Sawant. It allegedly disclosed its involvement in the acquisition of drugs and financial transactions.
However, in the bond statement filed in the Sessions Court, it was argued that Rhea is innocent and has been falsely implicated in this case. Her attorneys maintained that the crime was subject to bail and argued that no drugs or psychotropic substances were seized. Claiming that Section 27A of the NDPS Act was applied without evidence, they disputed the charge that Rhea had financed the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances. Furthermore, the defenders asserted that there is no allegation that their client purchased or financed any medicine outside the period during which she was in a relationship with Sushant Singh Rajput.
The petition alleges that she was interrogated on September 6, 7 and 8 in the absence of a female police officer, which was observed to violate a directive of the Supreme Court. By revealing that the defendant understands a serious risk to her life in prison, Rhea’s attorneys have assured the court that she was willing to cooperate with the investigating agency.
