Chakraborty further said in her plea that the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput had been in the habit of using drugs, in particular “ganja”, even before she had a relationship with him. While she sometimes bought her drugs in “small amounts” and also “occasionally paid for them herself,” she was not part of any drug syndicate. Chakraborty has been booked by the NCB on various charges, including financing the illicit drug trade under Section 27-A of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

The actress said she was wrongly booked under Section 27-A of the NDPS Act, which imposes a ban on the posting of bail to the defendant by stating that no drugs were seized from her possession. Chakraborty said that some other defendants in the case had faced identical charges, but had not been registered under the strict Section 27-A. She also said that, at best, she can be accused of having bought drugs in small quantities for her boyfriend. However, she was doing her best to get Raj to kick his drug habit, the actress said.
