Mumbai:
Actress Rhea Chakraborty, in her second request for bail after two weeks in a Mumbai jail, has denounced a witch hunt against her by the Office of Narcotics Control at the behest of three central agencies that specialize in “international ramifications investigations” but have found no evidence against him. She also alleges that Sushant Singh Rajput “took advantage of those closest to her to maintain her drug addiction.”
The bail applications of Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik will be heard tomorrow by the Bombay High Court. It was delayed one day due to heavy rains in Mumbai.
Rhea Chakraborty was arrested on September 9 on drug charges related to the investigation into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, her boyfriend, on June 14. The Office of Narcotics Control described her as “an active member of a drug union.” Her judicial custody was extended yesterday until October 6.
In her release on bail, Rhea Chakraborty says that it is clear that “Sushant Singh Rajput was the only drug user and that he was directing his staff members to purchase his medications.” She also says that “if the deceased actor were alive today, he would have been charged with the consumption of small amounts, which is a crime capable of being bail with imprisonment of up to one year.”
It is “absurd”, she argues, that while the “drug user” would receive a maximum penalty of up to one year in prison, she, having paid for the drugs on a few occasions, would be subjected to up to 20 years. in jail.
Sushant Singh Rajput, says Rhea Chakraborty, “used her, her brother Showik, and members of her household staff to ease her drug addiction while making sure she didn’t leave a paper trail in the form of electronic evidence of any kind”. He also said: “It is regrettable that Sushant Singh Rajput took advantage of those closest to him to maintain his addiction to drugs and thought it appropriate to expose them to the dangers that this entailed.”
She says that, based on information in the public domain, Sushant Singh Rajput had asked her cook, Neeraj, “to make marijuana joints / rolls / doobies and place them in her room” three days before her death. He said Neeraj had told the CBI and Mumbai police that he had prepared the joints and placed them in a box in his bedroom and “then when the actor was found dead he verified from the box that all the joints / doobies they had been consumed and the whole box was empty. “
“It is therefore clear from the evidence collected by investigating agencies that only the late Sushant Singh Rajput used drugs and was in the habit of using those around him to facilitate his drug addiction,” the bond statement reads. by Rhea Chakraborty.
She also says in the 47-page petition that Sushant Singh Rajput’s ties to his family were strained and alleges that his sisters left him at the “peak of his depression.”
The petition says that Sushant Singh Rajput had “the habitual habit of smoking ganja cigarettes” before they met, a habit that he allegedly acquired while filming his movie “Kedarnath”.
“Surprisingly, the prosecution has not disclosed a single phone call, mobile call, SMS, WhatsApp message or email from Sushant Singh Rajput about how she acquired her medications for her own consumption rather than blaming her entire staff, (Rhea Chakraborty ), his brother and a host of others who allegedly supplied drugs for their own use, “the bail petition reads.
The whole prosecution case was that he allegedly bought drugs for Sushant Rajput, the petition says. “Apart from supposedly coordinating the purchase of drugs and occasionally paying for such purchase, there is no other accusation, however, the prosecution qualifies his alleged acts as ‘financing of illicit trafficking'”, says Rhea Chakraborty, adding that the accusations in against would come in the area of ”less serious offenses”.
