New Delhi:
Congressional leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury describes the arrest of actress Rhea Chakraborty on drug charges as “ridiculous” and calls her a “Bengali Brahmin lady” in a series of tweets he posted on Wednesday.
Chowdhury, the congressional leader in Lok Sabha and the party’s West Bengal head, also accused the BJP of “turning Sushant Singh Rajput into a Bihari actor” to score political points ahead of the Bihar elections.
“Rhea’s father is a former military officer, he served the nation. Rhea is a Bengali Brahmin lady, justice for actor Sushant Rajput should not be construed as justice for Bihari (sic),” Chowdhury wrote. “Deceased star, Mr. SushanthSinghRajput was an Indian actor, BJP made him a Bihari actor, just to score electoral points.”

Congress criticized the BJP after the party’s Bihar unit published “Justice for Sushant Singh Rajput” posters and banners. The government of Nitish Kumar in Bihar, of which the BJP is a part, is believed to claim credit for the transfer of the investigation from Sushant Singh Rajput to the CBI.
The congressman said that Rhea Chakraborty’s father “also has the right to demand justice for his children.” The trial by the media was an ominous omen for the judicial system, he wrote, adding that justice for all was a basic principle of the constitution.
“Rhea Chakraborty has not been charged with incitement to suicide or murder or any economic crime, she has been arrested under the NDPS (Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act), ridiculous. To please the Political Masters, the central agencies have played their On paper, after churning the sea, they have discovered drugs instead of nectar. They are still groping in the dark to identify who the murderer is, “Chowdhury said.
Rhea Chakraborty, 28, was arrested Tuesday on charges of organizing drugs for her boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput, a Bollywood actor whose death on June 14 is under investigation by the IWC.
The employees of his brother Showik and Sushant Singh Rajput are among 10 people arrested on drug-related charges in the case.
