Actor Rhea Chakraborty, who left last week after spending a month in Byculla jail in connection with the drug investigation in the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, has written to the Central Bureau of Investigation, which is also investigating the case of the actor’s premature death, to take action against his neighbor for giving misleading statements. The neighbor had claimed that Sushant had dropped off Chakraborty at his home on June 13. Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14, which the police had ruled a death by suicide.
Earlier this month, even as the IWC maintained that it is investigating all aspects of the case, the medical board of the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was set up to investigate the case “ruled out murder.”
The case was being investigated first by the Mumbai police. However, a month later, on the complaint of Rajput’s father, the Bihar police had registered a case of complicity in suicide, criminal conspiracy, cheating, robbery, improper restraint and confinement and named Chakraborty and his family as defendants. Later, the case was transferred to the CBI.
During the investigation, Rhea, 28, claimed that she left the Rajput home a week before the actor died. However, his neighbor Dimple Thawani in an interview had claimed that a witness had seen the Rajput dump Chakraborty at his residence on June 13. Thawani had claimed that someone had informed him about this.
Rhea, in her complaint against Thawani to the IWC, has stated that Thawani “made evidently false and false accusations against me knowing that they were false to mislead the investigation”.
Furthermore, Rhea has claimed that this amounts to an offense under section 203 (giving false information) and 211 (false accusation of crime committed with intent to injure) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
“The crimes are serious and the accusations were made on the Republic television channel without any basis,” Rhea said in her letter to the CBI, seeking action against him.
The letter was sent a day after his attorney Satish Maneshinde announced that they would be making a list of people who gave misleading information about the incident.
“We will send a list of people to the CBI who made false and false claims on television and electronic media, including carrying mobile recordings and false stories in the SSR. [Sushant Singh Rajput] case with special reference to Rhea Chakraborty to go after them and record their statements. We will ask the CBI to take legal action against them for misleading the investigations. “
