Mobile internet service was re-established in Kashmir on Tuesday after it was suspended for six days.
“Internet service is gradually being restored to all mobile phones in the Valley today,” said a senior official.
Mobile telephony, except for postpaid BSNL connections, was suspended in Kashmir on May 6 when Hizbul commander-in-chief Riyaz Naikoo died in a meeting with security forces.
Authorities had restored mobile telephony on all connections provided by service providers three days after May 6, except in the southern areas of Kashmir, but without internet service.
Around 12 am on Tuesday morning, mobile internet was re-established in Kashmir.
Meanwhile, after the restoration of the Internet installation, the short service messages (SMS) also started to work now.
This facility had been suspended since May 6, including on BSNL postpaid connections, although calls could be made and received on those connections for the past six days.
