Indian Railways will now allow ticket reservation and cancellation up to five minutes before the train leaves the station. The new rule, which will apply to all special trains in circulation, will take effect from October 10.
The pre-Covid system of preparing the second reservation letter 30 minutes before the train’s departure, which was not followed in recent months, has been restored by the railways. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the preparation time for the second reservation box was changed to two hours before the scheduled train departure time.
The first chart is prepared at least four hours before the scheduled train departure.
“As per the request of Zonal Railways to ensure the convenience of train passengers, the matter has been examined and it has been decided that the second reservation box will be prepared at least 30 minutes before the scheduled / rescheduled train departure time.” , a statement was issued. by the Indian Railways, he said.
“Accordingly, the ticket reservation facility, both online and at PRS ticket counters, will be available, prior to the preparation of the second chart. CRIS will make the necessary modifications to the software accordingly to restore this provision as of October 10, ”he added.
All passenger train services were suspended due to the imposition of the national shutdown as of March 25, but the railways resumed services in a phased manner as of May 1.
The zones recently got approval for 39 new special trains. “These services will be introduced as special services from an early convenient date,” said the Ministry of Railways.
