The latest arrest has brought to 12 the number of people detained by the Criminal Intelligence Unit of the criminal branch in the case.
Republic TV’s head of distribution Ghanshyam Singh was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the alleged TRP (Television Rating Point) manipulation scam, an official with the Mumbai criminal branch said.
Singh, who is also deputy vice president of the Republic Media Network, was picked up from his residence around 7.40 am, the official said.
The latest arrest has brought to 12 the number of people detained by the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the criminal branch in the case.
Singh was previously questioned multiple times by the CIU, the official said.
The bogus TRP scam came to light last month when the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) rating agency filed a complaint through Hansa Research Group, alleging that certain TV stations were tampering with TRP’s numbers.
Hansa is one of BARC’s suppliers that works with panel houses or people meters.
