Republic TV Moves SC Against Police Subpoena: The Tribune India

New Delhi, October 10

Republic TV Network Chief Financial Officer (CFO) S Sundaram has filed a motion with the Supreme Court against the subpoena issued to him in the Mumbai Police Registered Television Rating Points (TRP) scam case.

CFO does not record statement

Republic TV CFO S Sundaram did not appear before Mumbai police on Saturday to record his statement regarding the TRP scam, saying the channel had approached the Supreme Court.

In his petition, Sundaram has challenged the subpoena that was issued to him on October 9 and requested an early hearing on the matter. Previously, he had urged the Mumbai police to stop the investigation against Republic TV Network and its employees until the matter was heard in high court.

The police have already arrested the owners of the Fakt Marathi and Box Cinema channels after they claimed to have uncovered a TRP scam amounting to more than Rs 100 million. They alleged that some employees of a company involved in TRP measurement were manipulating “sample measurement services” by bribing people to watch certain television channels. – TNS
