MUMBAI: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay raut on Sunday, he said the Maharashtra government’s decision to reopen places of religious worship in the state was neither a victory nor a defeat for anyone.
Speaking to reporters here, Raut said he couldn’t take credit for reopening places of worship.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday it announced that places of religious worship in Maharashtra, which have been closed since the Covid-19 shutdown in March, will reopen starting Monday.
According to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) published by the state government, religious places located outside the Covid-19 containment zones will be able to remain open according to the hours decided by the authorities, and devotees will be able to enter in a staggered manner.
“SOPs written by the government must be strictly followed. There is no need to take credit. It was God’s will for people to stay home, and now it is God’s will for places of worship to reopen with caution.” Raut said.
To a question on the BJP saying that the reopening of the temples was a Hindutva victory, he said that not only the temples, all the places of worship will be opened. “This is not anyone’s victory or defeat,” Raut said.
