According to the latest updates, the Karnataka state government has finalized the decision to reopen the bachelor’s, diploma and engineering faculties by November 17, 2020. However, students would have the option of attending classes physically or online. Classes at universities and schools in India have been suspended since March this year due to the outbreak of the pandemic.
Earlier, the senior vice minister of the state Ashwathnarayan CN reported that the state government was considering reopening the universities in November. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and Deputy CM Ashwath Narayan held a meeting today with education experts and Department officials on the reopening of the pre-university colleges.
“The government is preparing to start the offline graduate classes from November. A decision will be made shortly after discussions with Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and other interested officials,” Narayan had said earlier this month.
The guidelines had already been issued by the Center for the reopening of schools and colleges, and accordingly preparations had to begin, Dy CM reported. However, the state government has not reported anything about the school’s reopening dates. Earlier it was announced that the reopening of the schools was the last thing the state government was thinking about. According to updates received from a local newspaper, the Indian Academy of Pediatrics Karnataka in its letter to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said that “the time has not yet come to reopen schools and colleges. Such a move in the United States and Korea has led to a huge increase in infections in the community. “

Many other colleges are scheduled to reopen beginning in November, but gradually. Jawaharlal Nehru University has announced that it will reopen in a phased manner starting on November 2, starting with day students and final year PhD students who need to access labs and submit their theses.
