Renault India today unveiled the Kiger compact SUV in its concept form and it has been confirmed that it will launch with an all-new global turbo petrol engine. Sharing the CMF-A + platform with the Triber, the Kiger show car has been designed in partnership with corporate design teams in France and the brand’s Indian division.
Nicknamed “California Dream” and “Aurora Borealis,” the body color has changing hues of blue and purple when viewed from different angles and lights and will result in the production version with 80% similarity. The five-seater will become the third Groupe Renault product to see its market debut in India before reaching global markets.
With segment B accounting for more than 50 per cent of the industry’s sales, Renault believes Kiger will help further expand its presence in India. The French manufacturer has already surpassed sales of 6.5 lakh units in India and the Kiger has been developed and engineered to provide an “unrivaled presence on the road with commanding frontal boldness.”
Renault emphasizes urban modernity and outdoor ability with the Kiger. It will be equipped with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, combined with a manual or automatic CVT transmission. The naturally aspirated version of the 1.0-liter gasoline unit could also be offered. The interior will have features like a digital instrument cluster, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and more.
