Renault India released a teaser video of the upcoming car on their social media accounts

Renault India has posted a teaser video of a new car on their social media accounts. Although the French automaker hasn’t revealed any details about the car, we know it’s HBC’s next subcompact SUV in concept form. The long-awaited SUV has been in development for quite some time, and we’ve seen a lot of spy photos of the car’s road tests before. The new teaser video reveals various details about Renault’s first subcompact SUV, including new headlights, thoughtfully designed door handles, roof-mounted rear spoiler and LED taillight design.

We previously reported that Renault India has postponed its plan to launch its small SUV until early 2021 due to sustained supply chain disruption in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic. Under the new plan, the automaker could reveal the concept version of the SUV very soon. We also hope that the company will use this as an opportunity to officially name its latest product for the Indian market. Some reports suggest that the SUV will be called the Kiger.

Renault HBC test mules have been seen numerous times. Despite the heavy camouflage, the leaked images revealed key details about the car. Based on the spy photos, we expect the SUV to be seen with boomerang-shaped LED DRLs, a pair of three-port headlights, robust bumper, black plastic cladding, sloping roof, sculpted trunk lid, LED taillight cluster C-shaped, roof-mounted rear spoiler, alloy wheels and more.

The next subcompact SUV will be built on the advanced CMF-A + platform that also underpins the Renault Triber MPV. The SUV is likely to be powered by a 1.0-liter ENERGY gasoline engine that develops 71 hp and 96 Nm of maximum torque. A new 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine, which was unveiled at Auto Expo 2020, is also likely to be offered. Transmission options may include a 5-speed manual transmission and an AMT unit.
