Mumbai: Covid-19 deaths in Maharashtra and new cases continued to rise, with Pune becoming the worst hit on Friday, sparking a new alarm, though the number of recoveries also improved, health authorities said.
After staying in double digits earlier this week, for the third day in a row the state witnessed 3-digit numbers, climbing to 155 deaths, compared to the peak count of 515 (Sept. 15), and state deaths skyrocketed from 46,356 to 46,511 now.
Shooting above the 5K mark for a third day, the state recorded 5,640 new infections, compared to a single-day peak count of 24,886 (Sept. 11), and the total number of cases increased from 17,63,055 to 17. , 68,695 to date.
The state’s recovery rate continued to improve, from 92.79 percent to 92.89 percent, although the current death (death) rate held steady at 2.63 percent for 10 days in a row.
At the same time, another batch of 6,945 fully recovered patients returned home, representing a total of 16,35,971 to 16,42,916 to date, much higher than the 78,272 ‘active cases’ (sick) currently in the state. .
Of the 155 reported deaths, Pune led the state with 60 deaths, 15 in Satara, 13 in Thane and Nagpur, 12 in Mumbai, in the highest group.
There were 8 deaths in Nashik, 7 in Aurangabad, 3 in Parbhani, Nanded, Yavatmal, 2 in Raigad, Jalgaon, Sangli, Osmanabad, Beed and Wardha, 1 in Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, Bhandara, Gondia and Chandrapur, plus one from outside the status – on the bottom bracket.

The Pune Circle (comprising the districts of Pune, Solapur and Satara) remained at the double digit level with 75 deaths, the death toll increased from 10,387 to 10,462 and daily infections increased by 1,126, from 442,117 a day earlier. to 443,243 cases now.
Meanwhile, the number of people sent to home quarantine decreased, from 560,868 to 558,090 now, while the number of people in institutional quarantine increased, from 4,284 to 4,883 on Friday.
