HATHRAS: Relatives of a 19-year-old Dalit woman, who died after being allegedly raped by four men in Uttar Pradeshis Hathras District, will appear before the Lucknow Bank of the Allahabad High Court amid tight security measures on Monday.
On 1 October, the court had asked the woman’s parents to come and inform her of their versions of the incident and had also ordered the Hathras district administration to organize her trip to the court and facilitate her appearance before it.
“The district judge, who has been appointed nodal officer for the appearance of the Victim of Hathrasfamily members before the superior court, is in contact with him to find out when the case is included. The family will move accordingly. The family is in Hathras from now on, “Police Superintendent (SP) Vineet Jaiswal told PTI on Sunday morning.
Police did not disclose details of their security plan regarding the movement of the woman’s relatives.
Sixty security personnel have been deployed and eight closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed at the home of the alleged gang rape victim in her village to ensure the safety of her family members, according to police.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Shalabh mathur, who was sent to Hathras from Lucknow as a nodal officer, had said on Friday that if necessary a control room would also be established.
With the help of CCTV cameras, the victim’s home is being monitored around the clock, police said.

“Shocked” by the alleged rape and gang murder of the 19-year-old Dalit woman and her subsequent forced cremation, on 1 October the Lucknow court of the Allahabad High Court had summoned senior government officials to court.
A division bench of Judge Rajan Roy and Judge Jaspreet Singh had ordered the additional Uttar Pradesh chief secretary, the state police chief and an additional chief police officer to appear before him on 12 October to explain the incident.
Learning suo motu of the case, which has sparked widespread outrage, the court also ordered the Hathras District Magistrate and the Police Superintendent to appear to inform the court of various aspects of the case, including the ongoing investigation.
“The events that occurred after the death of the victim on September 29, 2020, prior to his cremation, as alleged, have shocked our conscience. Therefore, we are becoming aware of them,” the bench had said in your order.
The court had also asked the parents of the deceased woman to come to court to inform her of their versions of the incident and ordered the Hathras district administration to organize her trip to court and facilitate her appearance before him.
