Registered political party in Vijay’s name: Father SA Chandrasekhar’s Mersal Movement?

Actor Vijay’s political entry has been speculated for years and the buzz has grown louder in recent years.

In what could be his first step into electoral politics, a political party has been registered in the name of actor Vijay. Legal representatives submitted the application to Election Commission of India (ECI) to register their fan club as ‘All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam’. Vijay is one of the biggest movie stars in Tamil Nadu and has thousands of fans in South India. However, it is unclear whether the match was registered under Vijay’s direct instructions. His father, director SA Chandrasekar, gave a cryptic message to the media when the question was asked. “I have applied for the registration of a political party on behalf of ‘All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam’. It is my initiative. This is not Vijay’s political party. I cannot comment on whether he will enter into electoral politics, ”he told NDTV.

In addition, he said that Vijay’s fan club which started in 1993 became wellness associations and has been registered as ‘All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam’. “Many young people are doing various good things on behalf of Vijay. I want them to have some recognition. Hence the movement, ”he told Puthiya Thalaimurai.

Actor Vijay’s political entry has been speculated for years and the buzz has grown louder in recent years. Especially with his recent films like Mersal and Sarkar, which spoke out on topical issues like the Goods and Services Tax (GST), demonetization, the state of Indian healthcare, cash for votes, etc., his Political entry has been considered imminent by many.

However, while Vijay has made his views known on issues like jallikattu and the NEET, so far he has not spoken openly about his political ideologies. The actor has only addressed broad issues such as corruption, without delving into which side of the political spectrum he is on or which parties are close to his political thinking.

The actor has also generated controversy due to the political colors in his films, particularly from the Tamil Nadu BJP leaders who attacked him for his religion. When Mersal was released, BJP leader H Raja ‘exposed’ that Vijay was actually ‘Joseph Vijay, a Christian, and claimed that it was due to the actor’s religion that a scene from his film caused him to encourage the construction of hospitals in place of temples. H Raja’s argument was that since Vijay is a Christian, his character in the movie should have told people to build hospitals instead of churches and not temples. Vijay’s religion is no secret in Tamil Nadu, and the BJP leader’s act of tweeting the actor’s voter ID was widely condemned.

Just when there was constant tension between the BJP and Vijay, the actor was brought in for questioning by Income Tax department officials as he was filming for his impending Master premiere directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. They took him to Chennai from his shooting site in Neyveli and officials questioned him. However, the department claimed that the actor had paid all his fees on time and put an end to speculation of tax evasion. Following this, Vijay tweeted a selfie of him with a background of hundreds of fans from the Master filming location with the words ‘Thank you Neyveli’.

The decision to register a political party comes at a time when Rajinikanth is said to be retiring due to his health. A letter claiming to have been written by the superstar was in circulation on social media, stating that Rajinikanth was retiring from politics due to health concerns. Although Rajinikanth denied that the letter was from him, he said that the content of it was true. Rajini Makkal Mandram, which was formed from the actor’s fan associations, was destined to be the base of his political party. However, Rajini seems to have abandoned him even before he could take the plunge.
