Islamabad:

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that he is even willing to start talks with his British counterpart, Boris Johnson, to have the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif, deported from London.

Citing an ARY News interview with Khan aired on Friday, Dawn quoted Prime Minister Khan as saying that since Nawaz’s extradition from Britain would be a “lengthy process”, his government was pushing for him to be deported “what may happen. immediately”.

“We are in regular contact with his officials. We are making every effort to get him deported,” said the Pakistani prime minister.

“If I have to, I’ll go talk to Boris Johnson,” he added.

This comes weeks after the British government informed Pakistani officials that they will not get involved in “their internal politics.”

For nearly a month, the Pakistani government has made several attempts to have Sharif’s arrest warrant signed.

The News International reported that the country’s diplomats stationed in London also asked the British government to help execute Nawaz’s arrest warrants, however, the government flatly refused.

Last month, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) harshly criticized the Imran Khan-led government for allowing Sharif to go abroad without informing the court and it was up to the dispensation to take steps to ensure the latter’s return to the country.
