Sunil Gavaskar’s son Rohan has reacted to Anushka Sharma’s criticism of his father’s comments involving her and her husband Virat Kohli during an IPL 2020 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab in Dubai.
Amid all the controversy, Rohan came up with a cryptic tweet that indirectly points out how his father and former captain of India Sunil Gavaskar has been unnecessarily misquoted.
“I love cholocate. Read it again. This is how you fail your exams,” reads the image of the tweet shared by Rohan Gavaskar.

The controversy erupted when Gavaskar said, “Ab jo confine tha toh unhone sirf Anushka ke saath bowling ki practice ki hai, use toh kuch bhi nahi banna”. But the comment was not well received by fans of Kohli and Anushka, who immediately began teasing the legendary cricketer on social media.
Virat Kohli’s wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, was also upset by Gavaskar’s comments on the air and submitted a response of her own on social media.
Speaking to India Today on Friday, Gavaskar responded to Anushka Sharma’s Instagram post. The former captain of India claimed that he had not blamed Anushka and there was no sexist tone in his comment either.
“First of all, I’d like to say it again. Where do I blame her? I don’t blame her. I’m just saying that the video said she was bowling for Virat. Virat only played that bowling alley during the lockout period. Tennis, a fun game where people have to hang out during the lockdown. That’s it. Where do I blame her for Virat’s failures? “Gavaskar said.
“You know me, I’m the one who has always fought for wives who go with husbands on tour. I’m the one that a normal guy goes to the office for a 9-5 job, when he comes home, he returns to Similarly, cricketers, when they go on tour or even when they play at home, why can’t they have their wives with them?
“Because after their work hours are over, they have to go back to their wives like any other common man. So I don’t blame her.”
