Actor Ranveer Singh’s upcoming movie 83 is among the many Bollywood projects affected by the coronavirus blockade. It was supposed to launch in April, but was suspended indefinitely.

Recent rumors suggest that the film could be released directly to a streaming platform soon. However, the film’s producers have contested the same thing. Speaking to PTI, Reliance Entertainment Group CEO Shibashish Sarkar said manufacturers are not looking in that direction for at least another six months.

“There is no truth to this. As producers and even as directors, we are all on the same page where we want to wait for the premiere in the coming months. We’ll complete the movie first, and then we’ll wait. If the situation worsens six or nine months later, we will receive a call at that time. No hurry.

“Everyone has shown interest in this project, but we are not currently participating in any discussion for a direct digital launch. We will wait for the next four to six months before receiving more calls, “he said.

He added that 83’s post-production and VFX work is still pending. The film, directed by Kabir Khan, will be released on April 10. There have been reports of a large OTT platform offering Rs 143 crore to 83 creators.

The film chronicles India’s first World Cup victory under Kapil Dev in 1983. It also stars Deepika Padukone, Hardy Sandhu, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jivaa, Saqib Saleem, Pankaj Tripathi, among others.
