New Delhi: An important archaeological finding, carvings in sandstone, Shiv Ling and pillars were excavated during the land levelling work at Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya.

Making the announcement, Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra Trust, said, “they found the pillars in the rubble of the structure, and carved in sandstone. Find a Shivling there and a similar one in Kuber Teela.”

The debris is removed and the land levelled in Ram Janmabhoomi in the last 10 days of the due authorization of the authorities of the district.

The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has also said that since the first phase of the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, began on May 11, many objects have been uncovered during the excavation.

VHP spokesman Vinod Bansal said that it includes many objects of archaeological importance as the flowers of stone, Kalash, Aamalak, Dorjamb etc

Apart from this, during the excavation of 5 feet of Shiva Linga, the 7 pillars of the black stone of touch, 6 pillars of red sandstone, and broken idols of gods and goddesses were also discovered.

“It is working at a slow pace due to strict regulations. We will be providing updates on a regular basis,” Bansal said in a tweet.

Temple existed below the Mosque of Babri: Ex ASI Regional Director

KK Mohammad, the former Regional Director of the Archaeological Survey of India, which, in 2018, said that despite carrying out an extensive survey in Ayodhya, the ASI team found “the existence of brick foundations, which supported the pillars of a pre-existed the temple.”

In an article in DNAMohammad also said that the temple pillars were embedded in the walls of Babri Masjid, and that these pillars were of Black Basalt.

In the ancient Indian temple art, ‘Poorna Kalas”, is considered one of the eight symbols of auspiciousness prosperity and around the 14 pillars had been discovered before the mosque was demolished in 1992, had said that Poorna Kalasas engraved on the bottom of the pillars.

Mohammad as a student of archaeology was a member of the team led by Professor BB Lal.

The work resumed in Ayodhya Ram temple site

Earlier this month, the Yogi Adityanath government allowed construction activity to resume during the crash after the metal barricades erected around the makeshift temple and the CRPF camp at the site were removed and levelling of the site began.

A local team of PWD officials are working in coordination with engineers of Larsen & Toubro will be in charge of overseeing the construction of the temple, reported IANS.

The Supreme Court of India gave the final judgment in the Ayodhya controversy the past year in the management of the disputed land (2.77 acres) to be delivered to a trust created by the Government of India to build the Ram Janmabhoomi.

The court also ordered the Centre to give 5 acres of land in another place to the Sunni Waqf Board for the construction of a mosque.
