New Delhi: On Friday (May 8) the government decided to put Shri Ram Janambhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust under section 80G of the Income Tax Law, and issued a notice to that effect. With this decision, donations made to the trust were exempt under the income tax provisions for fiscal year 2020-21.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has allowed the exemption of taxes on donations under Section 80 G of the Income Tax Act to the trust, arguing that the structure would be a “place of historical importance and a place of public worship. “

Notably, the tax exemption under Section 80G allows donated amounts to be deducted from taxable income, but there are certain conditions and restrictions for claiming tax exemption.

Earlier on April 8, the Trust also released its official logo on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in Ayodhya without any fanfare.
