New Delhi:
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday that India’s armed forces resisted aggression along the Royal Line of Control in eastern Ladakh and fought the Chinese army with “the utmost courage”, forcing it to retreat.
In a speech at the annual general meeting of the FICCI chamber of industry, Singh said that the “unprovoked aggression” on India’s Himalayan borders is a reminder of how the world is changing and existing agreements are being challenged.
“They fought the EPL (People’s Liberation Army) with the greatest courage and forced them to return. The next generations of this nation will be proud of what our forces have accomplished this year,” said the defense minister.
Without elaborating, Singh said that the Indian armed forces have shown exemplary courage and remarkable strength in facing the challenge.
“The unprovoked aggression on our Himalayan borders is a reminder of how the world is changing, how existing agreements are being challenged, how power is asserted not only in the Himalayas but throughout the Indo-Pacific,” Singh said.
“And how uncertain the future of the region and the world could be in this context. As you know, there is a large build-up of armed forces in LAC in Ladakh,” he said.

In an indirect reference to the agitation of farmers, Mr. Singh said that it is not about taking “retrograde measures against our agricultural sector”.
“Recent reforms have been undertaken with the best interests of Indian farmers in mind. However, we are always ready to listen to our fellow farmers, allay their misgivings and offer them guarantees that we can offer,” Singh said. .
Calling agriculture the mother sector, he said that the government is always open to discussion and dialogue to solve problems.
“Agriculture has been a sector that has managed to avoid the adverse effects of the pandemic and, in fact, it has gone better. Our products and purchases have been abundant and our warehouses are full. It is not about taking retrograde steps against our agricultural sector ever, ”he said.
