The actor, on Monday, held a meeting with the district secretaries of the Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM), a group that began in early 2018 as a forerunner of his political party. He had said that he would let people know his decision (on a political plunge) as soon as possible.

In December 2017, the actor had stated that his political entry was a certainty. However, Rajinikanth last month raised doubts about his long-awaited political downfall after confirming that doctors had advised him not to meet people or campaign during elections, as it would increase the risk of contracting COVID-19.
