Superstar Rajinikanth has been admitted to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, following “severe fluctuations in blood pressure.”
A statement issued by Apollo Hospital read: “Mr. Rajnikanth has been admitted to the hospital this morning. I was filming a movie in Hyderabad since the last 10 days. A couple of people on the sets tested positive for Covid-19. Mr. Rajnikanth was tested on December 22 for Covid-19 and tested negative. Since then, he has been isolated and closely monitored. Although he did not have any symptoms of Covid-19, his blood pressure showed severe fluctuations and he needed further evaluation for which he was admitted to the hospital. “
In addition, it read: “You will be investigated and closely monitored in the hospital until your blood pressure stabilizes before you are discharged. Apart from fluctuating blood pressure and fatigue, he has no other symptoms and is hemodynamically stable. “
Rajinikanth, who turned 70 on December 12, had been filming for the Tamil film Annaatthe in Hyderabad since December 14. Earlier this week, four members of Annaatthe’s crew tested positive for coronavirus. Following the diagnosis of the crew members, Rajinikanth underwent the Covid-19 test on December 22 and his result was negative. But, the actor decided to isolate himself and was under observation. However, due to “severe fluctuations in blood pressure”, he had to be hospitalized on Friday.
Production on Annaatthe is in its final stages and the filmmakers planned to finish it in one installment. Written and directed by Siva, Annaatthe boasts an all-star supporting cast that includes Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Khushbu, Meena, Prakash Raj, Sathish, and Soori.
