Rajasthan leader Ghanshyam Tiwari returns to BJP after two years

Ghanshyam Tiwari joined the BJP on Saturday.

Jaipur:

Rajasthan’s main leader, Ghanshyam Tiwari, joined the BJP on Saturday, two years after he left the party due to growing differences with the state and central leadership.

He joined the BJP at an event held at the party’s headquarters in Jaipur. The chairman of the state party, Satish Poonia, was also present at the event.

“After a long time, I have the opportunity to speak from this platform. I thank the party leaders who considered my letter to join the party,” Tiwari told reporters.

He said that he is fully committed to the ideology of the BJP and, although he had once shared the stage with Congress, he never accepted their membership.

He added that previously, he was with the BJP with heart and soul, but formed a new party due to certain circumstances.

Before resigning from the BJP in June 2018, Tiwari had differences with the state administration led by then-Prime Minister Vasundhara Raje on a number of issues, including the plight of farmers and corruption.

Tiwari had floated the Bharat Vahini Party before the Rajasthan Assembly elections in 2018. He contested the election from the Sanganer seat, but lost.

Previously, Poonia said that Tiwari’s return to the BJP is no exception.

Uma Bharti, Kalyan Singh, Babu Lal Marandi had also returned to the party, he said.

Poonia also attacked Congress for its defeat in the recently concluded panchayat elections in the state, saying that even though the people’s mandate is against it, the ruling party claims that this time its percentage of votes increased.

Congressional leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi are running state government through social media as young people wait to get a job, he said.
