Rajasthan BJP MLA Kiran Maheshwari, Positive for Covid-19, Dies; PM Modi, speaker of Lok Sabha condoles the passing of


Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Rajsamand of Rajasthan, Kiran Maheshwari, who tested positive for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) last month, passed away last night at Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital, ANI news agency reported. Maheshwari, who was also a member of the 14th Lok Sabha from 2004-2009 from the Udaipur constituency of Rajasthan, was transferred to Medanta earlier this month after her health deteriorated.

Maheshwari had reportedly contracted Covid-19 during the municipal corporate elections in October. She was one of the two BJP poll workers for the North Kota Municipal Corporation (KNMC), with Churu MLA Rajendra Rathore being the other.

Condoning his passing, Lok Sabha Chairman Om Birla, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kota, called it a “personal loss”. He tweeted: “Rajsamand MLA Kiran Maheshwari’s passing is extremely sad. He dedicated his entire life to serving society. His death is a personal loss to me. May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to his family. “

“I worked with Kiran ji politically and socially for a long time. She was a strong voice for social problems, especially the rights of women and the underprivileged classes. Kiran Ji, who was always ready to help those in distress, will always be remembered for her courage and clarity, ”Birla posted in a subsequent tweet.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his condolences on his death. Quoting PM Modi, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) tweeted: “Grieving over the untimely disappearance of Kiran Maheshwari Ji. Whether as MP, MLA or Cabinet Minister in the Rajasthan government, she made numerous efforts to work for the progress of the state and empower the poor and marginalized. Condolences to his family. Om Shanti “.

Before Maheshwari, the Bhilwara MLA Congress Kailash Trivedi had passed away due to post-Covid-19 complications in October. Trivedi, who, like Maheshwari, breathed his last at Gurugram, tested positive in September. He later tested negative but continued to have lung problems, which doctors described as a post-Covid-19 complication.

Previously, Uttar Pradesh ministers and BJP leaders Chetan Chauhan and Kamal Rani Varun had also passed away due to Covid-19.

As of Sunday, Rajasthan’s Covid-19 count was 262,805, according to government data. This includes 231,780 recoveries, 28,751 active cases, and 2,274 deaths.
