- On Saturday, rumors went viral that Suresh Raina had unfollowed CSK on Twitter.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) senior batsman and Vice Captain Suresh Raina returned home from the United Arab Emirates last month ahead of the start of the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 after withdrawing from the tournament for personal reasons. Raina is not expected to return for CSK now at IPL 2020 and has been spending quality time with his family in India.
While Raina dismissed all reports of a rift between himself and the CSK administration as one of the reasons behind his decision to withdraw from IPL 2020, speculation continues to abound on social media. On Saturday, fake news that Raina and CSK’s official Twitter user were not being followed went viral on the microblogging site.
However, the rumors are wrong as Raina, who has been a part of the CSK franchise for ten seasons, still follows the team on both Twitter and Instagram. CSK’s official Twitter and Instagram accounts also follow Raina, who remains an integral part of the setup despite withdrawing from the tournament this year.
Raina and CSK continue to follow each other:
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan clarified the franchise’s stance on the chances of Raina returning this season on Saturday and clearly stated that the left-handed hitter will continue to receive the team’s support in his decision to withdraw from the season due to personal reasons. . Raina is unlikely to play for CSK this year.
“Look, we can’t look at Raina because she was not available and we respect her decision and her space. We are not thinking about that,” CSK CEO told ANI.
Raina’s absence is clearly felt in CSK’s batting lineup, as the two-time champions got off to a bad start at IPL 2020 losing two of their first three games. CSK defeated the Mumbai Indians in their first game of the season before suffering back-to-back defeats against the Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals respectively. On Friday, CSK fell short by 44 runs in the 176-run chase against Delhi in what was a dismal performance from their hitters.
