Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday mourned the deaths of relatives of cricketer Suresh Raina in a robbery attack in Pathankot and said the culprits will be brought to trial. The prime minister’s assurance came after Raina asked the Punjab police to investigate the incident in a tweet and tagged the prime minister.
The robbers’ attack took place in the Tharyal village of Pathankot on the night of August 19-20. While the cricketer’s uncle died at the scene after sustaining head injuries, a 32-year-old cousin of Raina passed away in a private hospital on Monday. night.
According to the police, three to four members of the famous gang ‘Kale Kachhewala’ attacked them while they were sleeping on the terrace of their house.

Condoning the death of Raina’s relatives, the CM tweeted: “I ordered SIT to investigate the case and they asked @DGPPunjabPolice to identify and arrest the culprits as soon as possible. Beta, my DC and SSP have met the family and we will ensure that the culprits are brought to justice. “
Hours earlier, Raina described the attack on her relatives in Pathankot as “beyond horrible.” “My uncle was killed to death, my bua and my two cousins had serious (sic) injuries. Unfortunately my cousin also passed away last night after struggling for life for days. My bua (aunt) is still very, very critical and alive, ”he said.
“To date we do not know what exactly happened that night and who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to investigate this matter. At least we deserve to know who did this heinous act on them. These criminals should not be prevented from committing more crimes. @capt_amarinder @CMOPb ”, he added.
