RRB NTPC, MI 2020 Recruitment Exam: Following the completion of the reported recruitment drive in 2018 to fill 1.2 lakh vacancies in group D, ALP and technical positions, the Railway Contracting Board is going to start its recruitment review to recruit at 1.4 lakh (1, 40,640) vacant positions in Isolates and Ministerial Categories (1,663), Popular Non-Technical Categories (35,208) and RRC level 1 (1,03,769).
The recruitment drive will begin with the examination of positions of the isolated and ministerial categories from December 15, followed by NTPC from December 28 and RRC level 1 from April (planned). A total of 2.44 crore applicants applied for the vacancies, with 1.03 lakh for isolated and ministerial categories, 1.26 crore for NTPC and 1.15 crore for level 1 positions.
For the ministerial examination, the RRB has organized 354 centers, which was increased from the previous allocation due to COVID-19 guidelines. The Railroad Recruitment Board in a virtual press meeting held today reported that candidates must submit the COVID-19 declaration form to appear in the exam, in addition to other precautionary measures such as using a mask and hand sanitizers.

The RRB said, “The number of candidates should not be more than 65 in a room, following social distancing protocols. Test centers will be thoroughly disinfected before the start of another test. “
The examinations of the isolated and ministerial categories will be carried out in two shifts, one from 10:30 am and the other from 3 pm. The exam will be 90 minutes, while PWD candidates will have 120 minutes for the exam. The admission card for the exam is available for download on the official websites.
The Railroad Contracting Board is also closely monitoring the farmers’ protest and any decision to cancel or postpone the tests will depend on the state of law and order. Responding to a question, the RRB stated: “The principal secretaries of the states have been contacted to receive support in conducting the recruitment examination, any change in the dates of the recruitment examination will depend on the communications received from the state authorities.”

The railways will also have special exam trains to meet the travel requirements of candidates. “The RRBs are making efforts to ensure that, to the extent possible, candidates are housed in their own state so that they can get to their test centers by taking an overnight trip,” the board said.
According to data shared by RRB, the top applicants are from Uttar Pradesh with 24,148, while only 7 applicants are from Andaman and Nicobar.
In addition, the RRB clarified that the candidates who are being selected for the ALP, Technician positions, will soon receive their assignment letter. The delay, according to the recruiting organization, is due to the pandemic situation. “As the training process for the selected candidates has been canceled due to the pandemic, the candidates could not be appointed to the selected positions. Although the virtual training process is ongoing, candidates will be appointed once the situation improves. “The entire adjudication process for the 2018 recruiting drive will conclude in August next year, RRB reported.
“The temperature of the candidates at the entrance will be controlled using heat guns. Candidates who have a temperature higher than the prescribed limits will not be allowed to enter the exam site. Proper organization of crowd management will be done according to the COVID-19 protocol from the front door to the exam labs. After each shift, the exam center will be disinfected before starting another shift, ”states Railways on the official website.
