Indian Railways will begin conducting the first stage of computer-based examinations from December 15, the chairman of the board of the national carrier, VK Yadav, said on Saturday. Mr. Yadav, while addressing a virtual briefing, reported that examinations will be carried out to fill around 1.40 lakh positions in three categories of vacancies.

The vacancies are of three types: popular non-technical categories (guards, secretaries, etc.), isolated and ministerial and level 1 (track maintainers, bodyguards, etc.).

Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal also announced the test dates on Twitter.

The chairman of the railroad board said the examinations could not be conducted until now due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We invited recruitment applications in various categories for 1,40,640 positions. They were notified in the pre-COVID period. The scrutiny of these applications was completed, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a computer examination could not be completed.” . Mr Yadav said.

The Railways Recruitment Boards are committed to conducting computer testing for all reported vacancies and have been actively assessing the situation on the ground amid the pandemic, a Railroad statement said.

These are, 35,208 positions in popular non-technical categories (NTPC) such as guards, clerks, business employees and others, 1,663 positions for isolated and ministerial categories such as shorthand and teachers, and 1,03,769 for level one vacancies as a clue. maintainers and pointers.
