Railways Minister Piyush Goyal said on Monday that Indian Railways will start providing services from and through Punjab as farmers’ unions have announced the complete lifting of the blockades.
“After the postponement of the movement of farmers on the railways and stations in Punjab from 23 November, Indian Railways will start rail services to and through Punjab,” Goyal tweeted.
“Passengers, farmers and industries will benefit from the elimination of stagnation in train operations,” he added.
The development comes two days after Punjab’s Chief Minister Amarinder Singh managed to break up the mess over the suspension of train services in the state, and farmers’ unions agreed to his appeal and announced the complete lifting of the blockade. rail from November 23.
The decision to lift the rail blockade, imposed by farmers in protest against the Center’s laws, was announced by Bharti Kissan Union (Rajewal) in a meeting with the Chief Minister.
