Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Hathras politics, not justice: Union Minister Smriti Irani

BJP’s Smriti Irani attacked Rahul Gandhi today while speaking to journalists.

New Delhi:

Union Minister Smriti Irani attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi this afternoon, who will make his second attempt in three days to visit Hathras in Uttar Pradesh amid outrage over the alleged gang rape and murder of a woman from 20 years.

“People are aware of the tactics of Congress … That is why they secured a historic victory for the BJP in the 2019 elections,” the BJP leader told reporters today.

“I cannot stop a leader in a democratic nation, but people understand that his visit to Hathras is for his policy and not for justice for the victim,” he added.

Earlier today, Gandhi tweeted in Hindi: “No power in the world can prevent me from meeting this grieving family and sharing their pain.”

He and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are likely to visit Hathras this afternoon to meet the victim’s family.

While the village’s borders were opened this morning after 48 hours, a senior official said that only journalists are allowed.

“Rahul Gandhi is not allowed … currently any political party leader is prohibited from coming,” Hathras Joint Magistrate Prem Prakash Meena told ANI news agency, adding: “When orders come in to allow delegations, it will be We will let everyone know. “

On Thursday, both Mr. Gandhi and Ms. Gandhi Vadra were arrested in UP’s Greater Noida (near Delhi) and briefly detained. Gandhi was abused and pushed to the ground by the police in that fight, sparking outrage at the UP government’s handling of opposition leaders.

However, Ms Irani, who defeated Rahul Gandhi in the stronghold of Congress, Amethi, last year in the Lok Sabha elections, said today that the Yogi Adityanath government will guarantee justice for the victim’s family.

The brutality with the woman, who belonged to the programmed castes, and the post-midnight police funeral has sparked widespread outrage.
