Addressing a press conference from the congressional headquarters in Delhi, Gandhi said the prime minister “has failed to fulfill the responsibility of protecting the territory of India” and has instead ceded territory to China.
“The prime minister is a coward who cannot stand up to the Chinese. He is spitting on the sacrifice of our army. He is betraying the sacrifice of our army. No one in India should be able to do it,” Gandhi said.
In reaction to his comments, the home of the MoS, G Kishan Reddy, said the congressional leader should “ask his grandfather (Nehru) who has given the territory of India to China.”
“You have to ask your grandfather (Jawaharlal Nehru) who has given the territory of India to China, you will get the answer. Who is a patriot and who is not, the public knows everything,” Reddy said.
Union Minister RK Singh said Rahul Gandhi’s statement is both unparliamentary and immature.
“He does not understand anything and does not try to understand things. I think his statement is both unparliamentary and immature,” Singh added.
Gandhi’s comments come after India and China reached an agreement on the disengagement on the north and south shores of Lake Pangong in eastern Ladakh.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday that India and China agreed to convene the next meeting of their senior commanders, within 48 hours after completing the disconnect in the Pangong Lake area, to “address and resolve all other remaining problems. ”
According to the agreement reached with the Chinese side, the structures built by both parties since April 2020 in the north and south bank areas will be eliminated and the landforms will be restored.
The issue of the Depsang Plains or the Bulge area, as well as other hot spots such as Gogra-Hotsprings and Charding Ninglung Nallah (CNN) in the Demchok sector, are likely to come up in the next meeting with China.
The congressional leader said the area to finger 4 in Pangong is Indian territory and asked the prime minister to explain why the soldiers were asked to move to finger 3.
“Finger 4 is our territory, that’s where our post used to be. Now we have moved from finger 4 to finger 3. Why did Prime Minister Modi cede Indian territory to the Chinese? This is the question that must be answered by him. and the defense minister, “Gandhi said.
“It is clear that Prime Minister Modi has given the land of India to China,” Gandhi said.
Why haven’t the Chinese troops withdrawn from Gogra-Hot Springs, Depsang Plains? Gandhi asked, criticizing the government for agreeing to vacate the Kailash Range Heights.
“The defense minister did not say a word about the most important strategic area, the Depsang plains, where China had entered. The truth is that the prime minister has ceded the Indian territory to China. He must answer to the country,” he added. Gandhi said.
