From the heart of the protests against the three controversial farm laws in Moga, Punjab, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi government, claiming that the laws would be repealed if Congress won power.
Addressing a public meeting in Badhni Kalan in the Moga district of Punjab before leading a tractor rally, which has been called ‘Kheti Bachao Yatra’, Gandhi wondered what the “rush” was and the need to implement these laws. in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I guarantee that the day the government of Congress (in the Center) is formed, these three black laws will be discarded and sent to the trash. The prime minister says laws are being drawn up for farmers. If laws are made for farmers, why didn’t you debate Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha? Gandhi asked.
“And if farmers are happy with these laws, why are they agitating all over the country? Why are all the farmers in Punjab waving? ”He said at the rally, which was attended by Punjab’s Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Congressional Head of State Sunil Jakhar, and MLA Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Rahul Gandhi further claimed that Prime Minister Modi had been lying to people for the past six years. “This is a kathputli government whose strings are in the hands of the Adanis and Ambanis. These are the three black laws that have been passed. The Modi government wants to destroy the three pillars of Indian agriculture: MSP, purchase of food grains and mandis, ”he said.
Addressing another rally in Ludhiana, Gandhi said: “The people of Punjab provide the country with food, you are the backbone of our country. Why is Modi ji breaking this spine to benefit few people? Congress will never allow this to happen. “
President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the Bill on Trade and Trade in Agricultural Products (Promotion and Facilitation); Price Guarantee Agreement and Law of Agricultural Services for Farmers (Empowerment and Protection); and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, which Parliament passed last month. Of the three laws, farmers and agricultural leaders have expressed serious concerns about the first, claiming it was an indirect way of eliminating the purchase of wheat and rice under the minimum price support program (MSP).
Punjab CM Amarinder Singh said Prime Minister Modi’s promises would be useless as long as the laws passed in Parliament were not amended to make MSP mandatory.
Sidhu, who had stayed away from all congressional activities since resigning as cabinet minister last year, called the farm laws an “attack on the federal structure” and claimed that the central government was run by “capitalists.”
“They are trying to force the failed US system on us. The capitalists run this country. Benefits to farmers are called ‘subsidies’, while relaxations worth thousands of rupees given to the rich are called ‘incentives’, ”he said.
Gandhi will hold mass public meetings and tractor rallies in Punjab and Haryana over three days. After finishing his tractor rallies in Punjab’s Patiala, Gandhi will attempt to enter Haryana via Pehowa on October 6. From Pehowa, you will arrive at Pipli in Kurukshetra, head to a concentration of farmers, merchants and arhtiyas, and then take the national road to Delhi.
Haryana Interior Minister Anil Vij, who has so far maintained that Rahul Gandhi will not be allowed to enter the state, softened his stance on Sunday. “We are a democratic state,” he said.
Investigating Gandhi, Haryana MP CM Dushyant Chautala said: “Rahul does not have complete knowledge about the three agricultural laws. Rahul Gandhi ko Krishi ke “k” shabd ka bhi gyan nahi hai “. Dushyant called the ongoing protests in Punjab and Haryana a “conspiracy of Congress.”
“Congress is deceiving innocent farmers. The farmers of Haryana know their interests well and will not allow Congress to mislead them. Both the central and state governments have made numerous decisions in the interests of farmers and various measures are being taken to double farmers’ incomes. Congress, to date, has not taken any steps to ensure the well-being of farmers. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only made groundbreaking decisions in the interests of farmers, but also paid out record compensation to farmers, ”said Dushyant.
“I am also a farmer and my doors are always open to farmers. I am ready to answer each and every question that farmers ask me, ”added Dushyant.
