New Delhi:
Ahead of the third round of talks between the BJP-led central government and farmers’ representatives, former Congress Speaker Rahul Gandhi called on all Indians to support his demand for a complete rollback of three controversial farm laws.
Sharing excerpts from news reports on how farmers in Bihar, where APMC or government mandi were abolished entirely in 2006, have not received the minimum price support for their products, Gandhi continued to criticize Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he was farmers on the new laws. “
“The Bihar farmer has many problems without MSP-APMC and now the prime minister has pushed the whole country into this well. In such a situation, it is our duty to support the farmers who feed the country,” he tweeted. .
बिहार का किसान MSP-APMC के बिना बेहद मुसीबत में है और अब PM ने पूरे देश को इसी कुएँ में धकेल दिया है।

The video is a compilation of PM Modi’s statements on how the laws, one of which eliminates the APMC system, would benefit farmers.
Recently, in a meeting with senior ministers, the prime minister had used the example of Bihar to emphasize the “problems that the APMC Act created and that is why Chief Minister Nitish Kumar abolished it” 14 years ago.
However, news reports indicate that despite claims of timely purchases, agricultural products in Bihar have not been purchased or farmers have not received the price guaranteed by the government. Wheat is now rotting in the fields, putting extreme financial pressure on farmers in the state, reports show.
The video ends with the message: “The Prime Minister has misled the country about how the abolition of the APMC Law would harm the country. If you don’t want the entire peasant community of the country to suffer, support it.”
For many months now, Rahul Gandhi has led criticism from his party and the Opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisions on the management of the economy, the coronavirus pandemic, demonetization, the GST and now the agricultural laws.
After weeks of continuous protests, including the massive “Delhi Chalo” agitation, farmers have called for a nationwide bandh on December 8.
