Two men have been arrested for allegedly being members of a module that used drones to smuggle narcotics and weapons into India via Pakistan-based smugglers with ties to pro-Khalistan agents, Punjab police said in a statement Tuesday. A quadcopter drone with a mini receiver and camera mount, a 32-caliber revolver, a pickup truck, cartridges and drugs were recovered from the defendants, police added.
The defendants, identified as Lakhbir Singh and Bachittar Singh, were arrested by the Amritsar (Rural) police.
Police said questioning of the defendants has revealed their alleged association with four other smugglers, who were housed in Amritsar prison.
“During the investigations, Lakhbir Singh revealed that he had acquired a Quadcopter Drone from Delhi about four months ago and that the drone was currently at the residence of his associate Bachittar Singh on Guru Amardas Avenue, Amritsar,” said the Punjab chief of police. , Dinkar Singh. in the statement.

Smugglers and terrorists in Pakistan are increasingly using drones to launch drugs and weapons into Indian territory. Over the past few years, the Indian authorities have intercepted several drones used for this purpose.
