The Punjab government has allowed the reopening of higher education institutions for PhD students, as well as for graduate and PhD students as of September 21, 2020. The government has been particular to open only those technical and professional programs that require laboratories and experimental work to be conducted. However, all schools, colleges and training centers would remain closed until October 2020.
The Government issued guidelines in compliance with the directives of the current phase of the confinement issued by the Ministry of the Interior, MHA. It fully supports distance learning and online learning among students, but no school, university or training center would reopen until October from now on.
However, according to the detailed guidelines issued by Special Chief Secretary (Home) Satish Chandra, open-air theaters could be operated following social distancing rules. However, all movie theaters, swimming pools, amusement parks, theaters and similar venues will be closed until the government notifies otherwise.
Satish Chandra, in an official statement, said. “50 percent of teaching and non-teaching staff will be allowed to attend schools at the same time for online teaching / distance counseling and related work in areas outside of the containment zones, only as per standard operating procedures , SOP issued on September 8 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Union ”.
Recently, the Delhi government also ordered that all schools in the territory remain closed until October 5, 2020. The Education Directorate ordered schools that online classes can continue as scheduled along with all teaching activities -learning. Schools and universities closed on March 24, 2020, following the coronavirus outbreak in the country. The Juntas were postponed in several states this time just to ensure social distancing. Now, in Unlock 4.0, the Government has decided to bet on a partial reopening of schools and colleges depending on the state government.
