Speaking to reporters here, he also suggested that Pakistan’s ISI spy agency will use farmers’ anger at the new farm laws and try to foment trouble in the border state of Punjab.
Amarinder Singh, together with the AICC Secretary General and the Punjab Affairs Officer Harish Rawat, Punjab Congress boss Sunil jakhar and others paid tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh on his 113th birthday in Khatkar Kalan village in SBS Nagar district.
Amarinder Singh, Rawat and others held a sit-in protest here against the new farm laws.
Addressing the meeting, the CM criticized the Center for introducing the farm laws, saying they would “destroy” the farming community.
“I have said that we will take this matter forward. The president approved these bills and now we will take this matter to the Supreme Court,” Singh said.
Stating that his government would take all possible measures to protect the interests of the farming community, he said that two defenders from Delhi would come here on Tuesday and that the matter would be discussed with them.
To another question, he said: “The ISI always looks to whom and where it can give weapons, bombs and grenades. They have been following it from the beginning. During the last three and a half years of our regime, we have arrested around 150 terrorists and some 700 weapons were seized. ”
“There has been peace in Punjab, but when you try to take someone’s food, won’t they get angry? It becomes the ISI’s target. That is why I say that everything they have done is anti-national,” Singh added. .
President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday he gave his consent to three controversial agricultural bills that have sparked protests from farmers, especially in Punjab.
According to a bulletin notification, the president gave his approval to three bills: the Trade in Agricultural Products and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill of 2020, the Farmers’ Agricultural Services and Price Guarantee Agreement (Empowerment and Protection), 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020. Defending farmers for protesting agricultural laws, the CM said they had the right to do so because “it is taking away their livelihoods ”.
He accused the central government of taking away the rights of the states.
“Now he has taken (from the right) the agricultural sector. What will he leave to the states? Will he leave it or not? He has taken everything (from the states). How will we run our states?” added.
Speaking to the media later, the CM expressed hope that Congressional Leader Rahul Gandhi would join the protests against the new farm laws.
“We are going to ask you to join us. Daily you are tweeting and making statements, saying that everything (the government) has done with farmers is fraud. He will certainly join us,” he said.
Hitting the Shiromani Akali Dal, who has left the NDA, the CM said: “Akali Dal is now in a total lose-lose situation. You will find that they will lose everywhere. They will try to use some other tactic that is not going to work. Work because once you’ve let people down, once you’ve told them what kind of people you are, no one will trust you again. ”
Before addressing the meeting, former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat said that Congress will fight the farmers’ battle.
He accused the central government led by the BJP of “demolishing” the minimum price of sustenance, the mandi system and the PDS (public distribution system) with these agricultural laws.
“Their motive is to demolish everything that farmers got after a long struggle. From the green and white revolution until now, the rights that farmers have acquired, one by one, are all being demolished with these farm laws,” Singh said.
“The MSP and mandi system will be dismantled with these agricultural laws and their next target is FCI,” he said, stating that they also want to demolish the Public Distribution System.
