Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said Tuesday that a special investigation team of state police will investigate the attack on the relatives of Indian cricketer Suresh Raina in Pathankot, in which his uncle and cousin were killed.
Raina, in a series of tweets, sought the help of the Punjab police to catch the culprits and also tagged the prime minister in one of them.
“Condolen the brutal attack on the relatives of @ImRaina in Pathankot. I have ordered SIT to investigate the case and have asked @DGPPunjabPolice to identify and arrest the culprits as soon as possible. Beta, my DC and SSP met the family and we will make sure the culprits are brought to justice, ”Singh tweeted.

Raina, who recently withdrew from IPL 2020 and returned home from the United Arab Emirates citing ‘personal reasons’, has said that what happened to her family was beyond horrible.
“My uncle was killed, my bua and my two cousins were seriously injured… Unfortunately, my cousin also passed away last night after fighting for life for days. My bua is still very, very critical and on life support, ”Raina tweeted.
“To date we do not know what exactly happened that night and who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to investigate this matter. At least we deserve to know who did this heinous act to them, ”Raina posted.
Police have said that three to four members of the notorious Kale Kachhewala gang attacked Ashok Kumar and his relatives at their home in Thariyal village near Madhopur in Pathankot late on 19 August.
